Who builds this

ZohaNur is designed, written, tested and published by one person: a software engineer in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, with a background in front-end architecture, working on this in the evenings and on weekends alongside full-time employment.

There is no company behind it, no team, no funding round, and no plan to seek one.

Why it is built this way#

Building alone is slow, and it is the reason a feature request may sit for months. It also has advantages that are worth stating, because they are the reason the project is worth trusting:

• Nobody has to be persuaded not to add advertising.
• There is no growth target that would justify designing for compulsion.
• No investor will one day want the user data, because there is none to want.

The trade is honest: you get software that will never be turned against you, built more slowly than a funded team would build it.

Where the effort has gone#

Most of the difficult work in ZohaNur is invisible. Prayer times are computed with full astronomical formulas on the device rather than fetched from an API, so that the app works in a village with no signal. Alerts are re-synchronised on every launch because Android manufacturers silently kill scheduled alarms. Recitation downloads run in the background with limits on data and storage so that nobody's prepaid plan is drained.

None of that is visible in a screenshot. It is what makes the app dependable at fajr.
